Burning of Fish

PARADE BEGINS SATURDAY AT 7:30PM FROM THE MORNING JOURNAL MAIN STAGE!

People from all across the region will converge in Lorain to watch a giant fish sculpture burn in the culminating spectacle of the festival. Musicians, artists, drummers, dancers, youth and families will join in this procession of artistic and creative wonder. Featured performance artist Chris Seibert, who many will have encountered earlier in the festival day, will invite us to witness the transformative power of fire and how it can make the perfect conditions for the seeds of change we hope to see in our own lives and community.

This year’s Burning of the Fish theme is inspired by the special kind of seed found in nature called “pyrophytic.” Sequoia seeds are an example. The heat of fire is necessary for these seeds to germinate and grow. Fire, normally considered a destroying force, is actually a necessary ingredient in life for pyrophytic trees and plants. FireFish and our fiery finale is a force for rebirth and transformation in Lorain.

We invite you to join us throughout the festival to enjoy the creativity, community, fire and excitement that FireFish and the arts bring to Lorain!

See below for a list of performers that will be involved in this years parade.
