Broadway In Bloom

July 2 – September, 2021 –  Large-scale laser-cut and painted floral art installations “planted” along Broadway Avenue to complement Main Street Lorain’s “Lorain Blooms” plantings. Designed by Ryan Craycraft, FireFish Community Arts Manager, and and fabricated by Ryan Corrigan at Lorain County Community College’s Fab Lab with guest artists including Ann Bort.

Sunday, July 18, 2021 – A fashion show experience created by Lorain’s International Fashion Designer Jevon Terance, also a member of the FireFish Artist Board.  Showcasing his new Raceway Collection with a fiery twist, the fashion show will be located at “The Bank,” 383 Broadway at 7 pm.

FireFish 2021 Festival Preview Event: The Fire Song – A Documentary Film by John Baumgartner

Saturday, August 21, 2021 – A documentary film about the fire at First Lutheran Church, in Lorain. The film focuses on the history of the building, the historic organ, and the rebuilding of the church by Lorain/LA filmmaker John Baumgartner, a member of the FireFish Artist Board.  The film will debut at the Lorain Palace Theater.

 

FireFish 2021: A Festival Reimagined

August 29 – September 18, 2021 – Taking place this year over four themed weekends, August 29th through September 18, featuring FireFish’s signature theme-based art, performances, and installations, including the construction of the FireFish by Daniel McNamara, and the Fire Fish Finale by Schuyler White/Ohio Burn Unit.

Saturday, September 11, 2021 – Follow our guide – or hop on a guided tour with FireFish founder James Levin and  FireFish Executive Director Joan Perch of new art sites and public art in downtown Lorain.  Meet the artists and creative entrepreneurs changing the face of downtown Lorain and enjoy an interactive arts experience at the Jason Molina Song Alley, designed and designed by Kurt Hernon.

September 18, 2021 – The annual ritual processional and “Burning of the Fish,” takes place this year on the west bank of the Black River, north of the Bascule Bridge —  followed by an after-party featuring the Sammy DeLeon Band.  Additional arts performances and installations, art vendors, and family friendly activities available at the Bank Building.
